Every time your child finishes her work to the best of her ability, praise her for her effort. "You really worked hard to solve those problems. I am so proud of you!" Your child will come to love your praise and attention and will work harder to earn more praise. Always praise her for her effort, but do not ever call her a math whiz. That is because your child must learn the all-important lesson that any challenge can be overcome by hard work, not by talent alone. This will also prevent her from being crippled in the future by math anxiety if she has difficulty with a particularly tough math problem. Instead, she will have faith in her ability to solve any challenging problem. She will know that as long as she has the right attitude she will eventually learn how to solve any math question, no matter how terribly difficult it may seem to be at the moment.
Sometimes children are given maths worksheets where they have to calculate the cost of things or work out how much change should be given on items that cost $3.60 when someone hands over a five dollar bill. You could do the following: Get them to color in and name the three items, If there are no pictures on the worksheet then give them a sheet of paper to draw and color the items and then cut them out and paste them onto the worksheet, Once they have done this try to find five dollars in change and help them count out the money and calculate what is left.
You can find worksheets for a wide range of courses--almost any course you want to teach your children. These include spelling, writing, English, history, math, music, geography, and others. They are also available for nearly all grade levels. There are printable middle school, high school, elementary school, and even pre-school worksheets. So what kinds of worksheets should you get? Anything where you feel that your child needs further drill. We often have this notion that worksheets are just for math. This, of course, is not true. While they are excellent tools for reviewing math facts such as the multiplication tables and division facts, they are just as useful for reviewing parts of speech or the states in the union.
